Introduced in 2011, the 991 represented a significant step forward in scale, technology and refinement.
Built on a new platform with a longer wheelbase and wider stance, it offered improved stability and everyday usability without abandoning the rear-engine identity. Lightweight construction, advanced driver systems and increasingly sophisticated transmissions defined its character.
During its lifecycle, the 991 also marked a major shift: the transition from naturally aspirated Carrera models to turbocharged engines.
More spacious. More precise. Unmistakably 911.

I. 2011–2015 — 991.1
The first phase combined increased dimensions with reduced weight, improved efficiency and expanded driver assistance systems. Naturally aspirated engines defined the core Carrera range, while GT and Turbo models continued the performance tradition.
II. 2016–2019 — 991.2
A major shift to turbocharged Carrera engines marked the second phase. Enhanced connectivity, sharper response and further chassis refinement characterised the most advanced evolution of the 991 generation.
